Hi! I’m Jo, short for Josephine.
I am a 23 year old Los Angeles native who lived in Berkeley for 6 years and just moved to San Francisco. I like to make bad jokes, share good food, and take pictures of people I love.
I am a data nerd on weekdays and a photographer on weekends. I am an INFJ type, so the statement that “They tend to believe that nothing would help the world so much as using love and compassion to soften the hearts of tyrants” is one that resonates with me deeply.
Floral Extract is a compilation of well, first, all things floral whether it’s in fashion or not, travel, photography, and lifestyle, all sprinkled with bad puns here and there.
I’d love to get to know you!

Why did you name your blog Floral Extract?
Besides the obvious reason being that I like floral patterns and flowers, I wanted to focus on something bigger. I think it’s important that when you are having a bad day to really focus on the positives – essentially extracting the things that can help you grow. It’s important to apply this to a larger scale when thinking about your frustrations and how they affect your overall lifestyle or goals. I feel like I’ve worked really hard to be where I am today, and part of that comes from being able to see potential opportunities – find where you can bloom, and all else falls into place.
Who shoots your photos?
For the most part, my wonderful boyfriend @danteeisele. I also have a handful of good friends who have an eye for picture perfect moments.
What do you use to shoot?
We use a Canon EOS Rebel SL1 with a 50mm lens (see below!)
