Tired of spending a fortune for manicures? Ever get bored of just having a simple nail color and wanted to up your nail game? Try out triangles! Chances are, you’ve got polishes sitting on your dresser. Just pick up some tip guides here.
One of my favorite designs is also one of the easiest. What you’ll need:
- Base color, here I chose a slightly dark red called Size Matters by essie
- Triangle color, here I chose a gold glitter by H&M; similar one here.
- First base base coat by essie (not pictured!)
- “Good to go” top coat by essie
- Chevron tip guides from this pack: SODIAL(R) Nail Art Designs, it’s only $4 for a pack of 5!
Have you ever removed polish from your nails only to find that your nails were stained? This happens a lot with red especially, so be sure to put on a base coat to prevent staining. The first step is to paint your nail with your choice of base coat (I personally like the essie one here).
Paint your choice of base color. The color Size Matters (ha.) by essie is actually darker in real life than pictured on my hands, in case you were considering it 😉
Be sure to wait about ~30-40 minutes at least – I like to watch TV while doing my nails so this goes by quickly. Take a strip off the tip guide and place it on your nail. Be sure to get the bottom edges of your nail or else polish will seep through and your triangle won’t look as sharp!
Grab your triangle color of choice and paint away! It’ll look like a glob since you can paint onto the white without worrying (coloring out of the lines never seemed so fun).
Peel! Now you’ve got a nice triangle on your nails. Wait about 2 minutes to let it settle – we don’t want to put on top coat and have it drag the triangle colors onto the base color. Once it’s a bit more settled, put on your choice of top coat!
Snapchat them, Instagram them, you know the drill!
